Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is desperate to fire up his squad and his promised a bonus should they achieve qualification to the Champions League.

The Partenopei have been in a state of chaos since winning the Scudetto last term and currently find themselves seventh in the Serie A table under their third coach of the season, Francesco Calzona. The team sit 10 points behind fourth place Bologna with 10 matches left to play.

Napoli were eliminated from the Champions League by Barcelona in the Round of 16, a result that saw them lose out on a spot in next year’s Club World Cup, a tournament that’ll bring at least €50m in revenues. As such, De Laurentiis has his sights set on a key target for this term.

Il Mattino via TMW details how De Laurentiis isn’t willing to give up on the Champions League just yet, so has promised a lucrative bonus to the players should they achieve a top four finish this season.

He had promised €10m to the squad for the Club World Cup but that instantly vanished after a tough night in Catalonia, leaving a Champions League finish as the club’s only real objective for the campaign.
