Tuttomercatoweb claims the midfielder, who arrived from Boca Juniors last summer, has returned to new negotiations with Cagliari, weeks after having agreed a new deal with the Rossoblu.

The parties are, according to the outlet, working to lower the buy-out clause set at €38m in the new deal and return to the table in the coming days to find a common path.

Napoli have been linked with a swoop for the impressive 24-year-old, capped 31 times by Uruguay so far.

Nandez played 23 times in Serie A before the season was interrupted and had contributed one goal and four assists in the process of helping the Casteddu to their best start of a season since the Scudetto winners in 1969-70.

The Rossoblu signed the former Penarol star from Boca Juniors for €18m last August and the midfielder is contracted to Cagliari until June 2024.
