“I turned down an offer from Manchester United, as my desire is to stay here. I have an excellent rapport with Roberto Mancini.
“I’m having a great time, though I had the most fun with Wesley Sneijder, Marco Materazzi, Javier Zanetti and Antonio Cassano. Marco taught me Italian, including a few swearwords! Now I do some yoga exercises with Samir Handanovic before a game.
“It was very difficult when I first arrived at Cesena, because I didn’t understand any Italian at all. I didn’t have an interpreter either. Then I went to Italian school and everything got better.
“The toughest opponent I ever had to mark was Alexandre Pato in Cesena-Milan.”
Inter were top of the table at Christmas, but now find themselves fourth and go head-to-head with Fiorentina on Sunday night.
“I believe we’ll be able to finish third. The results will come and we have to believe in ourselves. I cannot explain this moment of form, as we are working well. These things happen in football, but we want to get back on our feet and we will do it.
“We must get into the Champions League. I played in it for two years and it’s incredible. We mustn’t make mistakes against Fiorentina, but above all think positive and forget what happened last time. The game will be won in individual duels.
“I still need to improve my defending and especially concentration. Right now I am working a lot on going one-against-one.”
