The Japanese international sprained his knee during the 1-1 draw against Milan on Sunday evening.
“A capsular ligament injury to the external meniscus and minor damage to the external ligament was the outcome of tests carried out at the Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia, under the supervision of Dr Franco Combi, chief of Inter's medical staff.”
It is not yet clear how long the full-back will be out for, but it is thought to be several weeks, if not months.
