“It’s a special game, different to all the others. We know what we’re playing for here, what it means, and we want to give it to our fans,” the defender told Milan TV.

“We are also well aware that we’re only one point ahead of Inter in the table. It’s a derby, we are in a good period of form, but it’s still a separate match to the rest of the season.

“There are three very important points up for grabs, but not just those. I think we’ve found the right tactical balance now and it’s crucial that we concede so few goals. We must continue like this and it’s thanks to the whole team that helps the defenders.”

Krzysztof Piatek goes into his debut Milan Derby after the January transfer from Genoa.

“Piatek is an excellent striker who works really hard, started on the right foot and can get into spaces, so he helps the whole team with his movement.

“Gennaro Gattuso is an intense Coach with a great direct rapport with all the players. It’s an honour for us to be at Milanello and see Leonardo and Paolo Maldini every day at the training centre.”

While the Rossoneri are flying high in third place, their city rivals are struggling without Mauro Icardi and Radja Nainggolan.

“Inter are a great team and Lautaro Martinez is proving to be an impressive young striker. It’s emotional to play in a derby and we expect the crowd to cheer us on the way they have done in recent months,” concluded Musacchio.
