Roma are considering a move for Atletico Madrid attacking midfielder Rodrigo De Paul, according to reports in Italy.
The Argentina international left Udinese to join the LaLiga giants last summer but has been linked with a return to Serie A.
Napoli has been mooted as a potential destination but Calciomercato.com has suggested Roma are considering an approach.
Jose Mourinho’s side have already brought midfielder Nemanja Matic on board but are preparing to lose Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Inter on a free transfer while Nicolo Zaniolo could also leave the club.
The double departure would make signing a new attacking midfielder a priority and De Paul could be answer.
De Paul is desperate to leave Atletico and return to Serie A – and is even prepared to give up Champions League football, according to the report.
It adds that Atletico would ask for a fee of around €40 million but Roma would hope to negotiate that with a potential loan deal, while his €4m-a-year wages should not prove an issue.
