Alvaro Morata’s wife received insults and threats from some Italian fans after the striker scored the equaliser against Italy last night.
The Juventus forward had already reported threats from Spain fans towards him and his family during the Euros, but this time around, the blame is on some Italian fans who did the same after Morata’s goal against Italy in the semi-finals of UEFA Euro 2020.
The striker’s wife Alice Campello, posted some sickening messages she had received on Instagram after his husband’s goal against the Azzurri.
Some of them wished cancer and death to Morata and his children, others insulted the Italian wife of the former Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid striker.
One of them wrote he would ‘set her on fire’ had he posted Morata’s goal on social media.
“I am not even suffering for these comments,” Mrs. Campello wrote.
“I don’t think it’s a matter of being Italian, but it’s something that has to do with ignorance. Had it happened to a weaker person, it would have been a problem,” she continued.
“Let’s not forget this is just a sport, that must unite people and not be used to vent your frustrations. I hope that in the future, it will be possible to take action against these people, because that’s unacceptable.”
Morata and Alice Campello got married in Venice in 2017 and have three children.
