Monza confirmed Pablo Marì underwent successful surgery this morning, but the muscle lesion he suffered will force him to the sidelines for at least two months.
The Arsenal loanee was one of the five people wounded in a stabbing attack in a supermarket near Milan on Thursday. Two people are in critical condition in hospital and one, a 30-year-old cashier, died in the attack.
Monza confirmed through an official statement today that Marì underwent ‘successful surgery’ in the morning.
The Brianzoli said the 29-year-old could be dismissed from hospital in two or three days and then begin a rehabilitation path.
“These sorts of muscle lesions usually require two days of rest before resuming physical activity,” Monza concluded.
The suspected assaulter is a 46-year-old Italian man named Andrea Tombolini, who is sad to have had mental problems. He was arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder.
Marì has scored one goal in eight appearances with Monza so far this season and the newly-promoted side have an obligation to make his move permanent from Arsenal at the end of the season if they secure survival in their first-ever Serie A campaign.
Monza have asked Lega Calcio to postpone their Serie A match against Bologna on Monday.
