Vincenzo Montella congratulated Catania on their performance, but warned they “can certainly do better when finishing.”

The Sicilians were 1-1 against Roma this evening and wasted numerous chances before the game was suspended at the 65th minute due to a waterlogged pitch.

“We played very well, as in other occasions,” said the Coach. “We were sharp and didn’t leave space for Roma in the middle of the park.

“Our counter-attacks were always effective and we created more chances than ever before this season. However, we can certainly do better when finishing.

“Unfortunately at that stage we really could not continue playing in those conditions. I’d prefer to see my team play on a decent pitch, as we have a very technical side.”

Maxi Lopez was on the bench amid rumours he will join Milan over the transfer window.

“Inside he does have this aspiration to play for a big club, but has always been an exemplary professional here and I doubt the transfer rumours are disturbing him.”

Montella joked he had also made a bid for one of his former teammates.

“I asked Daniele De Rossi if he wanted to come play for Catania. He said he’ll let me know tomorrow.”
