Vincenzo Montella has good news about Stevan Jovetic and feels Fiorentina are “fired up by the enthusiasm of the fans” against Atalanta.
The Viola have climbed to fourth place after a string of positive results, including their victory over Milan at San Siro.
“We feel no pressure and it is always pleasing to receive compliments,” said Montella in his Press conference.
“We must continue without getting distracted. My career as a Coach is only at the beginning and I know that perfectly well.
“Atalanta cannot consider themselves surprises, as last season they already had a very strong run. We cannot possibly underestimate our opponents, especially after they beat Inter.
“The Orobici are very experienced and hard-working, so I’d say they are the most dangerous in the League along with Napoli.”
Jovetic missed the trip to Milan, but his recovery is going quicker than expected and he’ll require a fitness test on Sunday morning.
“Jovetic is available and we’ll see how he does tomorrow. He could’ve slowed down his progress, but instead he proved how much he wanted to be there.
“Mounir El Hamdaoui is also available and Stevan Savic has settled in quickly. Alberto Aquilani can and will certainly grow, just as the whole team has margin for improvement.
“The squad feels the enthusiasm of the directors, the club owners and the city. We are all fired up by the enthusiasm of the fans and psychologically in good shape.”
Montella was asked about comments by Marcello Lippi and Cesare Prandelli, who both tipped Fiorentina as Scudetto contenders.
“Just the thought of the Scudetto makes me smile. We have shown vast improvements recently and are still keeping an eye out for reinforcements. We must not stop looking to grow.”
