“There are many injuries, but we have faith in those who are playing today. These moments come in football, that’s why you need to trust everyone in the squad,” the director told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’ve said many times that my faith in the Coach is the same as when we signed him 18 months ago. Roma have since finished third in Serie A and reached the Champions League semi-final.

“There is never just one person responsible for results, he works the same way and nothing has changed. Our faith in him remains the same.

“It’s true that it is not easy to win silverware at Roma, but I work 24 hours a day to get us towards this. I see the fans every day, whenever I go out. It would be wrong for me to promise anything, but I can tell them my only objective is to make the fans happy.

“Ultimately, a club is its fans. Roma are their fans.”

With Edin Dzeko out injured, Schick has to lead the line and so far he has not lived up to expectations.

“Our faith in Schick is also unchanged. It’s true he lacks consistency, but he has so much quality and will very soon become an important player for Roma.”

Monchi was asked if the Giallorossi were looking to the January transfer market.

“The January window is difficult, as you don’t have time to develop and must sign the right profile for what you need at that time. We’re talking to the Coach and reflecting on the situation to see what we can find.”
