“First of all, I would like to thank the fans, as they are marvellous,” Milito told Inter Channel.

“The affection of the people has been the greatest thing for me. The first few days after the injury were very hard and all this affection gave me incredible strength.

“It is also for them that I want to get back to my best. I have this objective in my head and will try to be at my best again so I can repay all these wonderful people.

“I am doing well now and started the recuperation process. Thankfully the knee is responding to all the exercises and we are on the right track.

“I do miss playing with the football. If all goes well, I hope that I can be in the pre-season training camp with the team.

“I’m spending a lot of time at home with the family, especially the weekends. I like staying home and do a few exercises or ice baths there to help the recuperation process.”
