Milinkovic-Savic: ‘Lazio not happy, Atalanta missing best players’

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic admits he was ‘not happy’ with the 0-0 draw against a depleted Atalanta who ‘were without their best players.’

It was a goalless draw at the Stadio Olimpico, although La Dea were clearly much happier with the result, seeing as they had seven players out with COVID, more injured and only two senior outfield players on the bench.

Mattia Zaccagni had the best chance of the game, his strike bouncing off the upright, while Adam Marusic and Aleksei Miranchuk curlers went close.

“We played well, but we had to win at all costs, as we were facing an Atalanta side without their best players,” Milinkovic-Savic told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s a pity, we are not happy, because we wanted to win this game. Perhaps we were lacking something on the final pass.

“We’ve got two weeks now to prepare the next games, as it’s going to be tough. Our objective from the first day has been fighting for a place in the Champions League, we’ve got to have that attitude in our minds when going into every game.”
