Milik and Napoli keep Dzeko waiting

Arkadiusz Milik and Napoli are at loggerheads over various details, and until he has moved to Roma, Juventus cannot welcome Edin Dzeko.

The transfer saga continues to drag on, as the situation has still not changed, with Milik the first domino who needs to fall in order to spark the chain reaction.

Milik cannot complete his transfer to Roma until he has resolved the outstanding issues with Napoli, and President Aurelio De Laurentiis – even when at home suffering from COVID-19 symptoms – is playing hardball.

Milik cannot complete his transfer to Roma until he has resolved the outstanding issues with Napoli, and President Aurelio De Laurentiis – even when at home suffering from COVID-19 symptoms – is playing hardball.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Teleradiostereo and Il Tempo newspaper, while one problem regarding publicity rights for Milik’s restaurant have been solved, others remain.

Milik has to renew his contract with Napoli until June 2022 so that he can then join Roma on loan with obligation to buy.

He won’t do that until the outstanding contractual issues have been resolved, including two months of his salary for the 2020-21 season and the fine for the November 2019 squad mutiny.

Sky Sport Italia theorise there is a not insignificant gap of €1m between Milik and Napoli demands.

Meanwhile, Milik has not even been assigned a squad number by Napoli for this season, meaning he is out of the team entirely.

At the same time, Roma are stuck between being able to field Dzeko in this evening’s Serie A opener against Hellas Verona and realising he is champing at the bit to join Juventus.
