The Serie A Week 31, 32 and 33 fixtures will be confirmed tomorrow, with reports the Derby della Madonnina between Milan and Inter will be on Monday April 22.
The 2023-24 campaign is nearing the end now, with only nine rounds yet to be played before the Scudetto, European places and relegation are decided.
With four Italian sides still in the Europa League and Conference League quarter-finals, plus the Coppa Italia semi-finals coming up next month, it is a packed and complex fixture list.
This is why the Week 31, 32 and 33 dates were meant to be announced today, but are postponed to tomorrow.
According to Calcio e Finanza, this is because the Lega Serie A are preparing to move the biggest fixture – Milan vs. Inter – to a Monday night slot on April 22.
It is not just the Derby della Madonnina, but also the match between the teams currently second and first in the table, and could mathematically secure the Scudetto for Inter.
Playing it earlier could be tricky, as Milan and Roma are playing the Europa League quarter-final at the Stadio Olimpico on the evening of Thursday April 18.
This could in turn cause problems for the television rights in Italy, as Sky Sport Italia usually has Monday evening rights, whereas DAZN would prefer to keep the big match for themselves.
Other big matches that need to be organised in those three rounds include Roma-Lazio in Week 31 and Roma-Bologna for fourth place in Week 33.
