Milan ultras unveiled banners with six requests for club directors before a Serie A game against Genoa and DAZN reports the atmosphere at San Siro is ‘strange’ today.

Milan ultras stage a silent protest in a home Serie A match against Genoa on Sunday.

Stefano Pioli’s men have already secured Champions League promotion, but they will finish a second consecutive season empty-handed and ultras demand a clear plan for next season.

Just before kick-off, ultras in Curva Sud exposed seven banners, asking for ‘communication strategy, institutional presence, appropriate signings, cohesion, ambition, and ability.’ The seventh and final banner read: ‘A winning project starts from the club.’

DAZN’s pitchside reporter Davide Bernardi confirmed that the atmosphere at San Siro today is pretty unusual.

“The environment is very strange. Giroud immediately looked towards the banners,” the reporter said.

“In terms of attendance, the Curva Sud isn’t sold out and visually, it’s a strange effect because all the fans are sitting. The only signs of presence were the boos to respond to chants from Genoa fans.”

The early signs showed that the protest helped Genoa as Alberto Gilardino’s men took the lead after barely five minutes thanks to a Mateo Retegui penalty kick.
