Milan: Rangnick wants Nagelsmann?

Ralf Rangnick will reportedly take a backseat at Milan as he wants the club to appoint RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Rangnick had long been expected to take the reins of Milan with complete control, a la Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport writes the 61-year-old is not planning to coach the Rossoneri.

Instead, the newspaper claims he will discuss bringing Nagelsmann to San Siro when he holds ‘face-to-face’ talks with Elliott Management chief Gordon Singer next week.

Still only 32, the German coached Hoffenheim between 2016 and 2019 and moved to Leipzig last summer.

He has guided the Red Bull outfit to third place in the Bundesliga, which restarts later today, and the Champions League quarter-finals.

However, La Gazzetta warns he may feel ready to step outside of Rangnick’s shadow and go it alone.

There are also the issues of taking a second key figure away from Leipzig and how much Milan can spend on new signings.
