Milan have started to develop a reputation as a safe haven for players whose careers have stalled at Chelsea, revitalising four players in recent years.

The Rossoneri recovered from their decade of misery with careful and considered work in the transfer market over the last few years, trying to find the right lower-cost opportunities to help close the gap with the teams at the top. Their work has been mostly successful and saw them recently win the Scudetto.

Milan’s growing project has also made them an attractive destination for players from abroad and they’ve successfully brought over a number of players who’ve grown into stars, including Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao.

From Chelsea to Milan

Gazzetta dello Sport highlighted how Milan have helped to revive four players who were struggling to show their best with Chelsea in recent years, starting with Fikayo Tomori.

The English centre back only ever managed to make 27 first team appearances for the Blues despite impressing out on loan, but he’s shined since making the jump to Serie A, growing into one of the best defenders in the league.

The second player revitalised after switching Chelsea for Milan is Olivier Giroud; the Frenchman only managed four Premier League goals in his final season with the Blues, and has since proven himself a vitally important figure for the Rossoneri, netting 47 goals across 123 appearances.

Third in line is Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who could never escape the shadow of the Maurizio Sarri season at Chelsea. In Italy, he’s already scored 10 goals across 35 games in his first season, proving to be one of the smartest signings of the summer.

Finally, there’s Christian Pulisic, who needs no introduction at this point. The American winger has directly contributed to 21 goals across 41 appearances over the last eight months, instantly rediscovering his confidence in Serie A.
