This is largely because over 4,000 tickets were bought by fans who are based outside of Italy and are travelling specifically for the Derby.
The event will include a multi-media campaign called ‘Join the flame’ with images of fire projected on to the sides of the stadium, while rapper Ghali will present his new single before kick-off.
At half-time, Christian Abbiati, Massimo Ambrosini, Cafu, Dida, Pippo Inzaghi, Alessandro Nesta and Massimo Oddo will present the special jerseys Milan Glorie will wear in their charity match against Liverpool Legends at Anfield on March 23.
The biggest gate ever for a club match on Italian soil remains the Champions League group phase tie between Inter and Barcelona, also at San Siro, in November 2018.
That fixture brought in €5.9m between ticket sales and hospitality.
