If Chelsea want payment to release Olivier Giroud, then Milan will turn to other options, such as Arkadiusz Milik, Dusan Vlahovic and Gianluca Scamacca.
The Rossoneri are still in advanced negotiations with Giroud for a two-year contract, but it had been on the condition that he was a free agent.
Last night, Chelsea announced they had exercised their option to extend his contract to June 2022.
Although Giroud’s entourage assured there is a promise to let him go for free to a club outside the Premier League, Milan remain unconvinced.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the San Siro giants have no intention of paying for Giroud and will look elsewhere if he isn’t allowed to move for free.
The other options mentioned by the pink paper include ex-Napoli striker Milik, who is currently at Olympique Marseille, and has also been linked with Juventus and Roma.
The ideal would be Vlahovic, but Fiorentina want at least €50m for the 21-year-old Serbian who scored 21 Serie A goals this season.
Another young and expensive candidate is Scamacca, owned by Sassuolo, but currently on loan at Genoa.
Again, it would be a costly affair, but provide Milan with a young player who has resale value.
