Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic stressed the young players like Mattias Svanberg and Nicolas Dominguez ‘can work overtime’ in a tough schedule.
The hectic schedule is discussed all across Europe, as the clubs are facing difficult moments due to injuries and fatigue.
Bologna prepare to face Roma at the Renato Dall’Ara tomorrow and Mihajlovic admitted his team is ‘short’ in some departments.
But the Serbian coach is not scared to ask the young players to ‘work overtime’ and is more concerned about the players who are struggling to return to full fitness.
“The problem is when they don’t play, not when they play,” Mihajlovic said at a press conference. “They are not asked to go work in the mines.
“As for those who are playing less, for example [Nicolas] Viola, he is first asked to get back in condition. He is training, he’s improving.”
Dominguez and Svanberg have played all 14 games in Serie A this term and are expected to feature against the Giallorossi too.
Mihajlovic points out that Dominguez might miss a game soon due to the many bookings, but doesn’t believe they need rest.
“Dominguez is on a yellow card, and we are short in midfield. But Svanberg and Dominguez are doing well for now.
“They are young guys; they can work overtime.”
Bologna have five games over the next 22 days, when the squad will go on Christmas holiday and return to the pitch on January 6.
