Mihajlovic happy with performance

Sinisa Mihajlovic insists he could not have asked for more from his Fiorentina players, but wishes the referee had been lenient with Per Kroldrup.

“I am angry at the red card, even if it's true the referee was absolutely right to send him off after being insulted,” said the Viola boss.

Sinisa Mihajlovic insists he could not have asked for more from his Fiorentina players, but wishes the referee had been lenient with Per Kroldrup.

“I am angry at the red card, even if it's true the referee was absolutely right to send him off after being insulted,” said the Viola boss.

“The game was over then, we were in stoppages and I think with a bit of common sense both Kroldrup and the referee could've avoided this. I'm sorry for Per and we're in a tricky situation now, as for next weekend we only have one centre-back.”

Although they lost 1-0 to Serie A leaders Milan, it speaks volumes that the Man of the Match was goalkeeper Christian Abbiati.

“I didn't like the first half-hour and they decided the game with a moment of magic from one player, but the performance of my side was excellent,” continued Mihajlovic.

“They never really put us under pressure and I don't know how many teams can create this many chances at San Siro. We emerge with no points, but gave a good account of ourselves.”

The Tuscans even gave 18-year-old defender Michele Camporese his Serie A debut at half-time when Cesare Natali limped off.

“He is certainly a good player, is young and did well with Empoli and at international level. I like his personality.

“Looking at tonight's performance, I really cannot complain, as the players did what I asked of them.”
