Sinisa Mihajlovic defends Milan’s style of play – “it depends on the game and the opponent”.
The Rossoneri had just 38 per cent of possession during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Empoli, and 31 per cent when beating Fiorentina.
“It depends on the game and the opponent,” Mihajlovic said when asked about those stats in his Press conference ahead of the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg against Alessandria.

“It’s difficult against Fiorentina, against Fiorentina everyone seems provincial. It depends on what you do with the ball.
“We know that Fiorentina are the team who keep the most possession in Italy, and Empoli are one of the teams with the best style of play in Serie A.
“We can’t keep possession in the same way as Fiorentina, because we don’t have players with the same characteristics.
“I’m the first to say that when we’re defending we have to have a provincial mentality, every player must be involved in that phase. Everyone has a job, and they have to do it.
“Being called ‘provincial’ isn’t an offensive description.”
Sunday sees the Derby della Madonnina with Inter, and Mihajlovic was asked what he learned from working with Nerazzurri Coach Roberto Mancini.
“I’ve taken his sense of style. He likes to hear that, even if it’s not true!
“I’ve taken many aspects from one of the most talented Coaches who has won a lot. Of course I have to thank him, above all because I’m doing this job that I like.
“Without him it would have been very difficult. These are things you never forget, and I’ll be grateful for life.
“I try to take something from all the Coaches I had, and then put something of myself in there too.”
