Mignolet on Napoli radar?

Simon Mignolet is mysteriously out of the Liverpool squad, fuelling speculation he could be Pepe Reina’s replacement at Napoli.

The Partenopei are in a difficult situation approaching Thursday’s transfer deadline, as Reina seems determined to accept a huge offer from Paris Saint-Germain.

It’d be €7m for the 35-year-old and a two-year contract with option for a third at €3.5m per season.

The only issue is finding a suitable replacement in such a short space of time.

There could be a clue from England, as Mignolet is not included in the Liverpool squad for today’s Premier League game against Arsenal.

Sources from Belgium insist the 29-year-old is not injured or ill and will begin international duty on Monday.

This is not the first time Mignolet has been linked with Napoli, as their interest in him stretches back to 2013, when he was still at Sunderland.

Mignolet would be reuniting with Belgium international teammate Dries Mertens at the Stadio San Paolo.

The Partenopei qualified for the Champions League by beating Nice 4-0 on aggregate in the play-offs.

They are in the same group as Manchester City, Shakhtar Donetsk and Feyenoord.
