Mertens: ‘Sarri is world class’

Dries Mertens is sure Maurizio Sarri will “prove he’s a world class Coach” going forward, but he isn’t interested in leaving Napoli for the Premier League.

With Sarri sacked from the Partenopei despite a club record 91 Serie A points this season, the tactician is reportedly heading for Chelsea.

He has been replaced at the Stadio San Paolo by Carlo Ancelotti.

“Sarri is a world class Coach and he’ll prove it. All those he trained have made an important step forward in terms of quality and I am convinced he’ll find a great team where he can prove just how good he is,” Mertens told Sky Sport Italia and Belgian television.

Does that mean Mertens could potentially follow Sarri to Chelsea, or even go to Manchester United or Liverpool?

“In all honesty, I want to try winning in Italy. I am very happy at Napoli!”
