Alexander Merkel is targeting the three points when Udinese take on his former club Genoa this weekend.

The German only left the Rossoblu in January, but he’s already archived his stints with the Grifone.

“With all due respect to my ex-teammates, Genoa represent my past,” he told the Udinese website. “My present and future proudly carry the name of Udinese.

“Genoa need points to avoid relegation, so they are going to play tooth and nail. But we don't care too much about that as we are going for the win.”

Merkel, 20, has played in just one League game for his new side so far.

“I try to work hard every day to be ready whenever the Coach may need me,” the former Milan man added.

“What's Francesco Guidolin like? He is an excellent Coach who helps all of us, especially those who play less throughout a season.”
