Mchedlidze wanted Roma penalty

Empoli forward Levan Mchedlidze is adamant he should’ve been given a penalty against Roma.

Empoli forward Levan Mchedlidze is adamant he should’ve been given a penalty against Roma.

On Saturday the Giallorossi won 1-0 at the Stadio Castellani thanks to a Radja Nainggolan strike that ricocheted off the goalkeeper’s back.

The hosts protested when Mchedlidze fell under a clumsy Kostas Manolas challenge.

“There was clear contact and it was a penalty,” insisted Georgia international Mchedlidze to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I would never have fallen like that all by myself.”

Empoli Coach Maurizio Sarri was sent off for dissent after that incident.
