Torino Coach Walter Mazzarri wants “the whole stadium” to help his side in the Derby della Mole against Juventus tomorrow.
The Granata face their city rivals on Saturday night, with the Bianconeri unbeaten in Serie A so far this season.
“I hope that tomorrow the whole stadium, not just the Curva Maratona will help us throughout the game,” Mazzarri said in his pre-match Press conference.
“In order to bring everything out of ourselves we need something more [from the stands].
“Before the Milan game I said that if they players couldn’t get fired-up for these occasions I’d be worried, and I’ll repeat that to the nth degree.
“We know how much this game means to our fans, they impress that upon the players if they meet them at the supermarket.
“I’d say that we have to channel our energies in the right way, we need to use our legs but also our heads.
“Sometimes you can freeze if you’re too fired-up, so it’s down to us to channel the energies of the lads in the right way.
“They need to be professional, for example avoiding pointless fouls.
“When you face some champions, some teams, you perhaps need more specific advice. In the moments leading up to the match I’ll speak to every player individually, especially those who have come from abroad, to understand if they understand what the derby means.
“I’ve been coaching for many years, so on a personal level I’ve experienced things like this. I try to experience these games in the best way, I’ll try not think about it when I go to bed because then I won’t sleep.
“I’m a professional, and I’ll try to push everything in the right direction.
“We’ll give our all, then of course there are the opponents and our own physicality. Let’s see what happens, we’re confident.”
What will be Torino’s approach to the game?
“It’s not like you can just do what you want every game. I’d like to impose our game, but we need to see what the opponents concede.
“They also change as games progress, so we’ve been trying several things all week.
“I hope tomorrow we can deliver what our fans expect of us. If people have a good opinion of us then it’s because we’ve done well, and we’ve certainly dropped some silly points.
“It would have been better to face Juventus with the four points that we dropped, but we just need to think about ourselves and tomorrow’s performance.
“We need to be more clinical, in some games we’ve been too profligate in the last third, and that’s what cost us those points.”
The former Napoli and Inter Coach was also asked about his relationship with his opposite number, Massimiliano Allegri.
“When I was ill he thought of me in his Press conference, that was nice and I want to thank him for that,” Mazzarri responded.
“As for the rest, every Coach has his beliefs and his personality. His career speaks for itself.
“Every person has their own character, what matters is that there’s respect.”
