Mazzarri: ‘Belotti back to his best’

Walter Mazzarri believes Andrea Belotti has “rediscovered the form of old,” but was not happy with the first half Torino performance against Frosinone.

The Granata had kept a clean sheet for 599 minutes of Serie A football until Luca Paganini’s header from a corner, but the Belotti brace after the break turned the game around.

“I didn’t like the first half at all,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia after a 2-1 win.

“I didn’t like the first half at all,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia after a 2-1 win.

“We are fighting for the top spots, therefore we have to play good football. We went behind on a set play, but I appreciated the reaction to win it.

“Belotti deserved a third goal. He’d been playing very well in recent weeks and it just wasn’t going into the net, but I knew it had to sooner or later.

“I think he deserves to be in the Italy squad, but obviously Roberto Mancini can focus on that and I think about Torino. I do believe Belotti has rediscovered the form of old.

“We’ve been working on his technique in training, his first touch and control. I did the same work after training sessions had concluded with Edinson Cavani at Napoli.”
