Walter Mazzarri still believes Napoli can reach the Champions League and has faith in Ezequiel Lavezzi. “Anything can still happen.”
The Partenopei were the favourites to clinch third place until last week’s surprise 2-0 defeat to Bologna.
“We must be wary, especially as Siena will come here to play without any particular pressure on them,” said the Coach.
“Our first and only objective must be to win the match, without repeating the errors we made at Bologna, which still stick in my craw.
“Clearly we must also hope for Catania to beat Udinese and keep an eye on Lazio-Inter too. I am nonetheless convinced that anything can still happen.”
There is tension in the Napoli camp after strong reports Lavezzi is heading for the exit, though newspapers disagree on whether it is for Inter or Paris Saint-Germain.
“He is very motivated and by now we’re accustomed to living with transfer gossip,” assured Mazzarri, who has dropped Pocho recently due to poor form.
“I hope to have Walter Gargano at my disposal too, even if he hasn’t been well. We also still have to focus on the Coppa Italia Final, so will have a week to prepare for that and do our best.”
Napoli take on Juventus in the Coppa decider at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on May 20.
