The Mayor of Naples has urged the ultras to isolate “criminals” after 13 AIK fans received minor stab wounds.
The city’s reputation took another hit on Thursday when 13 visiting Swedish supporters were attacked ahead of Napoli’s 4-0 Europa League win.
“These are not fans, they are criminals and that is how we must refer to them,” slammed Mayor De Magistris.
“I invite all the organised ultras groups to isolate them. Evidently these people think they can gain power and headlines by behaving this way.
“I am seeing a great team both in Serie A and Europe, but that is not enough. We must also grow as a city and as football fans.”
Meanwhile, Lazio could be investigated by UEFA over alleged racist chanting from some ultras during Thursday’s 0-0 draw away to Tottenham.
