Frederic Massara has confirmed that Milan are still keen to sign a new defender in this month’s transfer window.
The Rossoneri have a shortage of options at the back following the injuries to Simon Kjaer and Fikayo Tomori and so the club are looking to provide coach Stefano Pioli with a reinforcement or two. The Milanese side have to work fast, however, as the transfer window will close in only two weeks.
Speaking in an interview with DAZN ahead of the match against Spezia, Massara first discussed the Rossoneri’s extra motivation following Inter’s 0-0 draw with Atalanta yesterday.
“I believe that every game is decisive. We have to think about ourselves and improve. We have to continue on this path, Spezia have done very well even against very strong opponents and we have to be careful.”
The Milan sporting director then confirmed the team’s intentions for the January transfer market.
“Tomori’s injury is not so serious and he should be back quickly. We still think that if there will be the opportunity to complete the defensive department, we will do it but only under the conditions that will allow us to improve the team.”
A win against Spezia this evening would see Milan return to the top of the league table, although Inter still have a game in hand. The Rossoneri have won their last three league outings, as well as last week’s Coppa Italia clash against Genoa.
