“Our opponents have been completely renovated and had a very important summer on the transfer market. I think they are in the upper mid-table range now.
“What I want is for my team to be aware of what it’s doing and in the long run the results must arrive as a consequence of performances.”
Empoli have changed Coach three times in as many years, but Martusciello has been the assistant manager to both Maurizio Sarri and Marco Giampaolo before taking the bench himself.
“There is a line connecting us to those past seasons and we are continuing the same work. I want my lads to make it difficult for me to choose between them, because squad rotation is for teams higher up the table. If I make changes, it’s because they are all like first choice players to me and I base decisions on form.”
Torino signed Mirko Valdifiori over the summer, who shot to fame at Empoli and rather disappeared after his move to Napoli.
“We know Mirko well and if he has the time and space, he can do extraordinary things. We have to limit him, but certainly won’t change our tactics to suit Torino. That’s not our style.”
