Diego Maradona believes the Napoli No 10 shirt should come out of retirement and be given to fellow Argentine Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has been toying with the idea of re-introducing the shirt, which has been in and out of use since Maradona's time at the club.
A poll on Il Mattino's website showed that 54.1 per cent of people asked thought it should stay retired.
However, when asked about the debate in Argentina, Maradona told Ole: "Ezequiel is a special lad and a great footballer.
