Rolando Mandragora made his Serie A debut for Genoa against Juventus and his agent hailed the 17-year-old’s “humility.”

The teenage midfielder was surprisingly thrown into the starting XI for last night’s 1-0 victory over the leaders.

“His father travelled to Genoa without knowing that Rolando would be in the starting line-up,” agent Vincenzo Pisacane told gianlucadimarzio.com.

“I was in Bari and was unable to find a train or plane to Genoa, so I got in the car with my collaborator and rushed for 900km.

“He has the mentality of a 32-year-old, as if he had already played a good 30 Serie A games. Mature, honest, impressive. There are many sacrifices behind this debut, as his family worked hard and he left home at 15 to play football. He always had a clear idea in his mind of what he wanted to do.

“Rolando is so humble. He even has difficulty asking for tickets to games, yet on the field his personality is so strong and really stands out. He manages to be confident and remarkably calm.

“When he turns 18, we will sit at a table and discuss his new contract. The club wanted to give him a bonus for the good work he’s doing, but at this moment it’s right to think of all Genoa have given him. Considering his age, it’s an impressive contract.”
