The Azzurri are beginning a new era and Mancini focused on youth in his two friendly games so far, a 2-1 victory over Saudi Arabia and 3-1 defeat to France.
“It is important to rediscover the enthusiasm for the Nazionale,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“We will try to do much better in future, but the fact this is a team being constructed and full of youngsters can perhaps help, although of course it always depends on results.”
Against France, he started three debutants – Rolando Mandragora, Mattia Caldara and Domenico Berardi.
Their next match is against the Netherlands at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin on Monday.
“The Italians understand at this moment we have many young players who need help and enthusiasm. It’s pleasing to see that.”
The Nazionale failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, the first time they missed out since 1958.
“We suffered over the last few months and that’s only natural. This is a new Nazionale, made up of young lads, and they need help.”
