Mancini: ‘Italy? I wouldn’t say no…

Inter Coach Roberto Mancini admits he’d “have to accept” the Italy job if offered it.

Current Azzurri CT Antonio Conte will step down after the European Championships, and the Nerazzurri boss has been mentioned as a possible replacement.

“Not everyone gets to Coach the national team,” Mancini noted in an interview with Premium Sport.

“Working there would be different from working as a [club] Coach, but I think it could be enjoyable.

“Not everyone gets to Coach the national team,” Mancini noted in an interview with Premium Sport.

“Working there would be different from working as a [club] Coach, but I think it could be enjoyable.

“If it comes, if there’s a chance, it’s an assignment which you have to accept.”

Mancini is, however, unlikely to be the next CT as he’s focused on the summer transfer market.

“It’s hard to talk about the transfer market now, because we don’t know what we can do.

“We need to have brilliant ideas and hope we can realise them.

“Yaya Touré? He’s a great player, but he belongs to Manchester City. Football is special, sometimes you don’t need much to change.

“When you have a solid base it’s better not to revolutionise. Now we need players with high technical quality to help the younger players.

“It’s not easy to find good players who are cheap.

“The Suning Group? Maybe there’s an interest, I don’t know. If they do business it will be for the good of Inter, who have to get back into the Champions League.”

Finally, the former Manchester City manager was asked which of his players have improved the most over the course of the season.

“[Marcelo] Brozovic has improved a lot, he can become a top player. I don’t think there are players in Serie A who run as much as him and also have his quality.

“After that I’d say [Geoffrey] Kondogbia and [Ivan] Perisic.”
