“It will be a difficult match, but we must continue our growth process,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We lost to Udinese, but are on the right path. We’ll do well in future, we just have to continue like this. We need to take the initiative more and control the match with calm heads. We need to react and we will do it. I am convinced.”

Hernanes and Jonathan are still not 100 per cent fit, while Rodrigo Palacio continues to play through an injury.

“Is it a final against Chievo? We need to get points and continue our concept of football if we want to build a project. We need to make some clear changes, as we cannot win playing terrible football without a plan.

“The game is not easy tomorrow, as Chievo are on a positive run of results. It depends on us. Against Udinese we became too stretched out in the second half and allowed three or four counter-attacks. Inter must have the courage to attack while remaining tight.

“What counts is the attitude. I could change positions for a few players, but that wouldn’t make a big difference.”

Mancini was asked about reports Fredy Guarin and Mauro Icardi could be sold in the January transfer window to raise funds.

“I don’t think it will happen. In fact, we need to bring in a few players that we’re missing. I am convinced this side will challenge for the Champions League.

“It is the first time I have seen my lads absorb so much information so quickly. I am convinced we will fight for third place and for victory in the Europa League.

“The locker room mustn’t get knocked down, we need joy in there. This is the foundation for doing well.”

Meanwhile, Sylvinho has arrived and will be on the bench against Chievo tomorrow, but it seems he won’t strictly speaking be an assistant manager. What are his duties?

“He can’t play, unfortunately! He is young, we worked together at Manchester City, he played in many important clubs and will be very useful for us.”
