Mancini: Giovinco, Balotelli, Belotti…

Italy CT Roberto Mancini reveals he has been tracking Sebastian Giovinco ‘for a while’ but assures Mario Balotelli and Andrea Belotti will be back.

Giovinco is back in the Italy squad after three years away, having been exiled for his decision to play in MLS with Toronto FC, but Balotelli and Belotti were dropped for their lack of form and fitness.

“Giovinco’s been doing well for several years, he’s 31, we’d been monitored him for a while and we wanted to see him in the flesh,” Mancini said at a Press conference.

“He had no chance to come here before, now he’s with us. Balotelli and Belotti? Technical decisions. They’re not in spells of extraordinary form.

“They’re part of this group, when they return 100 percent there shouldn’t be any problems. In these two years, everyone will have the chance of a call-up.

“Why Zaza and not Belotti? It’s not a question of movement, they’re different players. Belotti isn’t at peak condition, so I preferred to leave him at home and let him train to get back to what he was like some time ago.

“Maybe he’ll be disappointed, but he knows that there’s no foreclosure here. Allan? We’ve never talked about him.

“Marotta for Club Italia? I’m the Coach. I don’t think he’s just started playing…”
