Roberto Mancini felt Italy ‘dominated’ the Final against England and hailed the ‘extraordinary’ Azzurri players after becoming European Champions in London. ‘I think we can still improve’.
“It was impossible to even think about it, but the lads were extraordinary,” Mancini told Sky Sport Italia. “I have no words for them, this is a wonderful group.
“It wasn’t an easy game and this one developed to become very difficult, but then we dominated it. On penalties you need to have a bit of luck and I’m also a bit sorry for the English.
“This team has grown a lot, I think we can still improve. We are happy for the Italians, I have no words for these guys.”
Mancini and his former teammate at Sampdoria, team coordinator Gianluca Vialli, hugged once more after a triumph at Wembley, where they failed at club level with the Blucerchiati.
“Ours is a friendship that goes beyond everything, because that Sampdoria went beyond everything,” Mancini said. “Today a circle has been closed, but I must say that our lads were incredible today.”
