Napoli have shown interest in the player, but do not intend to buy him outright or even pay all of his wages.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Manchester United are so desperate to be rid of Fellaini – and hope he can revitalise his fading profile on the transfer market with a good season at Napoli – that they’ll pay half his salary.
It’s reported United will pay £50,000 per week to keep Fellaini in Naples, the Partenopei paying the other half of that extraordinary wage packet.
Still only 26 and with a decent World Cup showing, Rafa Benitez hopes he can get the best out of Fellaini.
