Onana 6.5 – Made wise use of his feet and a couple of good saves to deny Haaland in the first half and Foden in the second half, right after Rodri’s eventual winner.

Darmian 6.5 – Always composed, not many errors against one of the best attacks in the world. (84’ D’Ambrosio N/G)

Acerbi 7 – He didn’t leave much space for Haaland. Fought hard with the Norway international. He won the battle but not the war.

Bastoni 6 – The Italian played a good game until minute 68, when he didn’t intercept a through ball in the build-up of Rodri’s goal. (76 Gosens 6 – Pushed down the left flank and would have delivered the assist for the equaliser, but Lukaku was not on his day.)

Dumfries 5.5 – Very focused defensively, but didn’t do enough in the final third. (76 Bellanova 6 – Showed personality.)

Barella 6.5 – The Italy international left everything on the pitch but didn’t have many chances to hurt Pep Guardiola’s men.

Brozovic 6.5 – A sublime defensive performance, he never felt pressure when he had the ball.

Calhanoglu 5 – He played at home in Istanbul but was nowhere near the level expected. Not enough quality (84 Mkhitaryan N/G).

Dimarco 6.5 – Started on the left flank and finished the game in the back-three. Hit the crossbar seconds after Rodri’s opener. Even more regret for him, being a die-hard Inter fan.

Dzeko 5.5 – The ex-Man City star used his body to create space for Lautaro but didn’t have a single chance to score. Left the pitch with a slight muscle injury. (57 Lukaku 4 – Another disappointing Final. He first unintentionally blocked a Dimarco header and then missed an absolute sitter. What a shame.)

Lautaro 5 – Many expected him to shine. He’s been Inter’s best and most consistent striker this season, but Man City’s defence nullified El Toro in Istanbul. Had one chance in the second half, but tried to score from a tight angle rather than passing it to Brozovic. Manchester City’s winner came in similar circumstances.

Man City player ratings: Ederson 6; Akanji 5.5, Ruben Dias 6, Aké 5.5; Stones 7 (82’ Walker N/G), Rodri 8; Bernardo Silva 7, De Bruyne 6 (36’ Foden 5.5), Gündogan 6.5, Grealish 5.5; Haaland 5.
