Man City target Popovic lands in Italy to complete Milan move

Serbian talent Matija Popovic has reportedly landed in Italy today to complete his free transfer to Milan.

The teenage forward shone at the Under-17 European Championship last May, attracting the attention of the Rossoneri and Manchester City. The Italian side quickly opened talks with his entourage and maintained contact across the year, keen to snap up the talent.

Due to his age and non-EU status, Milan have had to wait until Popovic turned 18 before being able to lock him down to a four-and-a-half-year contract. In recent days, Manchester City tried to speed ahead of the Rossoneri, but their efforts proved fruitless.

As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Popovic arrived in Italy today with his agent and will meet with Milan this afternoon to finalise the remaining details of his contract with the club, as well as the commissions for his agent.

The 18-year-old forward will fill the club’s remaining non-EU player slot, showing their belief in his potential.
