Reports claim Spanish authorities have requested four-year and nine-month jail terms for Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti due to tax fraud.
Spanish media, including Relevo and OK Diario, report the Madrid Prosecutor has requested a sentence of four years and nine months in prison for Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti.
As explained by Football Espana “the charges relate to tax evasion, where during the period of 2013 and 2014, Ancelotti allegedly put in place a complex and confusing series of building societies to avoid the correct taxation of his image rights during that period. Reportedly, the Italian ‘simulated’ the concession of his image rights to other companies to hide the income.”
Ancelotti, a former Milan and Juventus coach, first joined Real Madrid in 2013 and spent two years at the Bernabeu, winning a historic ‘La Decima’ the tenth Champions League title in the club’s history in 2013-14.
He returned to the Spanish capital in 2021 and has recently signed a contract extension with the La Liga giants until June 2026.
During his time in Madrid, the Italian tactician became the first-ever coach to win the domestic titles in the top five European leagues and the first to win four Champions League titles.
Ancelotti will be on the bench tonight at the Estadio Bernabeu for the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig.
