The main Italian sports papers claim Romelu Lukaku’s injury will force the Inter star to the sidelines until October.
Inter confirmed on Monday that their striker had suffered an injury to the flexor of his left thigh and that his condition will be assessed again next week.
This means the Chelsea loanee will miss tonight’s game against Cremonese, Saturday’s derby della Madonnina with Milan and Inter’s Champions League opener with Bayern next week.
According to Gazzetta, Tuttosport and Il Corriere dello Sport, Lukaku won’t be back before the September break.
The striker wants to get back on the pitch as soon as possible and the same goes for Inzaghi, but according to Gazzetta, the best-case scenario would see ‘Big Rom’ return to action against Udinese in the last game before the September break.
Lukaku has returned to Inter on loan from Chelsea this summer and has contributed to one goal and one assist in the opening three Serie A games of the season.
Inter’s next games are against Cremonese, Milan, Bayern, Torino, Viktoria Plzen and Udinese. They host José Mourinho’s Roma at San Siro in the first match after the break.
