Lukaku doesn’t want Chelsea return: Inter’s plan to make his move permanent

La Gazzetta Dello Sport reports that Inter striker Romelu Lukaku doesn’t want to return to Chelsea, so Inter are ready to extend his loan until 2024 and then make his move permanent.

The Belgian forward returned to Inter last summer after a disappointing one-year spell at Stamford Bridge where he had arrived in the summer of 2021 as the most expensive signing in the club’s history.

However, he failed to justify his €115m price tag scoring just eight goals in 26 Premier League games under Thomas Tuchel.

Lukaku returned to Inter on a dry loan deal last summer, meaning that Inter do not have an option or obligation to buy.

Nevertheless, according to Gazzetta, the Serie A giants and Chelsea have a gentlemen’s agreement to extend Lukaku’s stay at the Stadio Meazza until 2024.

Inter would pay €10m for another one-season loan, covering the striker’s salary and trying to include an option to buy in the deal.

Lukaku doesn’t want to return to Chelsea and the Blues are not planning to reunite with the 29-year-old so the Nerazzurri are confident that they’ll manage to strike a deal with the Premier League giants.
