Lotito: ‘Lazio deserve Champions’

President Claudio Lotito insists “Lazio deserve fourth place and a lot of it depends on Milan” ahead of the decisive final round.

Udinese need only a point against the Scudetto winners on Sunday evening to secure their Champions League preliminary round spot, so for Lazio to get there they need to beat Lecce and hope the Friulani lose.

“In theory Lazio would deserve fourth place, as they have been up there throughout the campaign and only slipped out during the last three games,” Lotito told Sky Sport Italia.

“I hope the team can show its full potential against Lecce and that Milan play well with Udinese to get the full result.

“It does not only depend on us, but above all on what happens in Udine and the effort Milan put in to this match.”

The Biancocelesti slipped out of the top four after recent costly defeats to Juventus and Udinese.

“This squad proved it can play on a par with everyone, but lacked a little bit of cynicism and the right concentration to achieve important results.

“We did not have the right experience to handle certain games, so lost without deserving to.”
