Lotito: ‘I was right about Reja’

Lazio President Claudio Lotito hailed Coach Edy Reja after the long-awaited victory over Roma.

“Tonight Lazio proved they can challenge anyone and deserved the win, especially in the second half. With so many chances, hitting the woodwork twice and forcing saves, at the end we did it,” he grinned on Sky Sport Italia.

“The introduction of Senad Lulic changed the game, though we were also unlucky, as Djibril Cisse's shot would've been a magnificent goal if it hadn't hit the post.”

The 2-1 win was snatched in stoppages by Miroslav Klose, but was more importantly Reja's first derby success after four consecutive defeats.

Last month Reja had offered to resign following criticism from the fans and local media, but Lotito rejected the proposal.

“I defended Reja because I consider him to be the right person for Lazio, despite all the criticism and protests. This evening I was proven right.

“This derby win was worth four altogether.”
