Lopez set for summer exit

Catania have admitted that they will probably lose star striker Maxi Lopez at the end of the present campaign.

The Argentine is generally viewed as the club's most valuable asset and he was associated with a January exit.

Although a proposed switch to Juventus – one of the clubs interested – hasn't materialised this month, the Sicilians expect to sell him in the summer.

"Maxi Lopez is a really strong player," said Catania transfer chief Pietro Lo Monaco.

"We've managed to keep hold of him for just over a year, but it is hard to think that we'll be able to keep him over the summer too."

Lopez arrived at the Stadio Massimino outfit last January and was an instant success with 11 League goals in just 17 games.

The South American has found it a little more difficult to net as regularly this time around with just five League goals this term.
