Lopez: ‘Cagliari going in ritiro’

Cagliari Coach Diego Lopez says his side will be going ‘in ritiro’ after today’s 1-0 defeat at Verona.

The Sardi are now just two points above the Serie A relegation zone after a third consecutive League defeat.

And the Uruguayan tactician revealed post-match that he will now be taking his players ‘in ritiro’ – an Italian tradition of going on a training camp when results are not going well – in a bid to turn around their fortunes.

And the Uruguayan tactician revealed post-match that he will now be taking his players ‘in ritiro’ – an Italian tradition of going on a training camp when results are not going well – in a bid to turn around their fortunes.

“We were in the game,” Lopez said of the loss against Fabio Pecchia’s strugglers.

“We didn’t fall apart after the goal, as has happened on other occasions.

“In the second half we had chances to score. You need to get goals because mentally you have problems when results are not coming.

“But we need to stay united and for that reason we are going in ritiro. It is a decision shared by the club.”
